What's Coming is Better Than What's Gone

What's Coming is Better Than What's Gone

As my move-out date gets closer, the reality of leaving LA becomes more tangible. I’m in the midst of selling everything I’m not taking to my new home, and this process has been both liberating and emotionally challenging.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been sorting through my things, deciding what to keep and what to let go. This isn’t just about decluttering; it’s about making conscious choices about the life I want to build in my new place, in a new state. Each item I part with is a step towards embracing change and creating space for new experiences.

Hosting the yard sale last weekend was a significant part of this journey. Seeing familiar faces, friends, and followers come out to support me was a reminder of the strong community I’m leaving behind. The yard sale was more than just a transaction; it was a series of heartfelt exchanges, each item finding a new home and carrying a piece of my story with it.

As I continue to prepare for the move, I’ve been using my instagram (@amyd_3) to sell remaining items. It’s a strange feeling, watching my home slowly empty out. The once-familiar spaces now echo with memories, but they also feel lighter, more open to the possibilities that lie ahead.

Letting go of possessions can be incredibly freeing. There’s a sense of shedding old layers, making way for growth and transformation. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on what truly matters. I’ve found myself holding onto items that carry significant sentimental value, while releasing those that no longer serve a purpose in my life.

The process has also been a lesson in gratitude. Each time I hand over an item, I’m reminded of the experiences and memories it represents. From the dining table that hosted countless family meals to the sofa filled with memories, these items have all played a part in my journey. Knowing they will continue to be cherished in new homes brings a sense of comfort and continuity.

As I prepare to say goodbye to LA, I’m filled with a mix of emotions. Excitement for the adventure ahead, sadness for the goodbyes, and a profound appreciation for the life I’ve built here. This move is a significant transition, but it’s also an opportunity to start fresh, to create new memories and connections in a different place.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this process, whether by purchasing an item, offering words of encouragement, or simply being there. Your kindness and understanding mean more than words can express. This is a new chapter, and I’m grateful to have you all as part of my story.

Here’s to new beginnings and the beautiful unknown.

With love and gratitude,

Amy Diaz
