I'm Almost There: Moving, Packing, and Living Out of a Suitcase

Moving is no joke. As I write this, I’m sitting among boxes and suitcases, the last things of my life here in LA. It's hard to believe that in just a few days, I’ll be on my way to a new state, a new home, and a new adventure. But before I get there, I have to get through this—packing everything I own, using up the food in my fridge so it doesn’t go to waste, and somehow living out of a suitcase in the process.

Let me tell you, it’s exhausting. I'm feeling overwhelmed and burned out. There’s something oddly emotional about packing up your life into boxes. Every item I wrap in paper or tuck into a suitcase feels like I’m closing a chapter. I’ve been working everyday and coming home to pack and organize after work, but no matter how much I get done, there’s always more to do. Each day is a marathon of sorting, cleaning, and playing Tetris with my belongings to make sure everything fits.

I’ve pared down my wardrobe to the essentials, rotating through the same outfits while everything else is sealed away. It’s a strange, almost surreal experience—like I’m already halfway out the door but still tethered here by the necessities of daily life.

One of the most surprising parts of this whole process has been the fridge challenge. I’m determined not to let any food go to waste, so I’ve been getting creative with meals. It’s like my own personal episode of Chopped, where I’m the contestant and the mystery ingredients are whatever’s left in the fridge. There have been some interesting combinations, to say the least, but there’s a certain satisfaction in knowing that nothing is going to waste. I'll be eating canned tuna for the remainder days along with any last minute cravings from my favorite restaurants here in LA.

But I’d be lying if I said it’s all been easy. There are moments when the exhaustion hits hard, when all I want to do is sit down and let someone else take over. And yet, in those moments, I find myself feeling incredibly grateful. Grateful for the chance to start fresh in a new place, grateful for the support of friends and family, and grateful for the little moments of calm in the midst of the chaos.

As I prepare for this big move, I’ve also been thinking about the new space I’ll soon call home. It’s exciting to imagine how I’ll decorate, what memories I’ll create there, and how I’ll make it my own. If you would like to gift me any items for this new beginning, I’ve created an Amazon registry with a few must-haves and more that would really make my new place feel like home. I’m so thankful for any support, whether it’s a gift, a kind word, or just positive vibes sent my way.

Moving is exhausting, no doubt about it. But with each box packed, each meal cooked, and each step closer to the finish line, I’m reminded that this is just the beginning of something new and beautiful. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me—I can’t wait to share what’s next.
